The Jason Manns Experience
A handsome tall guy with a firm handshake and a heartwarming smile. These were my first expressions I got during our first meeting at a Supernatural convention in Orlando Florida. I had no clue who Jason Manns was or what kinda music he's playing. My friends from overseas had told me a lot about him and his music. All I knew at that time was that I've seen a video with Jensen Ackles and him on stage singing "Crazy Love", once. Well, that's it.
But I love music, especially live music. During my time in Los Angeles I'd spent some time with folks involved in the music business. They took me to several clubs on their search for new talents. I loved the atmosphere there and Jason's concert reminded me of that time. I was also there to take pictures from his concert (you'll find them in the Jason Manns Gallery).
I felt Jason's presence as soon as he entered the stage with the guitar in his hands. He joked around with the audience, I took some pictures and he started singing. The room felt silent and everybody was listening. And what I heard then went far beyond my expectations.
Goosebumps rose on my arms, the sound of his voice seemed to embrace me and I got lost in the music. First I thought it was just me but I was wrong. During his concert he took the whole audience on a journey across the rainbow. He was putting us under the wonderful spell of his voice. Later, I thought of him as the modern Pied Piper of Hamelin. Time was fleeting and at the end of this amazing concert I'd still had goose bumps on my skin. Tears welled up in my eyes when we all together sang "Crazy Love".
After the lights went on I felt like walking on clouds. And I wasn't the only one. I think the reason is … Jason Manns doesn't just stay there on stage doing a performance. His music comes from the heart. It's honest and pure. Most of the time he keeps his eyes closed while he sings. I can tell you, it's not easy to get a picture of him with open eyes.
As I'm writing these lines I'm listening to his music and my thoughts are drifting back to Orlando, one year ago. I'm glad I'd the opportunity being there at this concert and it hadn't been my last one.
Thank you, for your wonderful talent, Jason. Thank you, for taking us on a journey far away from our everyday life for some time. I wish you all the best for you and your family, and lots of success for your live concerts in Germany.
Gaby
