Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and Arrow get an early renewal!

Three of The CW’s biggest dramas have been renewed for another season: Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and freshman series Arrow.

It is getting to be around that time when networks will begin issuing renewal/cancellation statements for their shows, and today The CW has announced the early renewal of three of its most popular series.

It should come as no surprise that the successful supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries has been renewed for a fifth season; executive producer Julie Plec has recently stated that she could see the show continuing on for as much as 10 seasons.

And Supernatural is almost there already! The fan-favourite show will be coming back for a ninth season in the fall, while its lead-in Arrow will be returning for a second season. READ MORE AT HYPABLE

TVD – CW developes „Originals“-Spinoff

The CW is piloting The Originals, a potential spinoff of the network’s flagship series The Vampire Diaries, in consideration for next season. The project, from Vampire Diaries co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec, will be introduced as an upcoming episode of Vampire Diaries that will air April 25, serving as a potential backdoor pilot. It stars popular Vampire Diaries cast member Joseph Morgan and the series’ recent addition Phoebe Tonkin. READ MORE

PREVIOUSLY ON… | Dean told his brother that Benny had killed Martin after being driven to the edge by a mentally unstable hunter while Sam ran into ex-love Amelia.

COMING UP NEXT | As if the trust issues between the Winchesters, the return of Cas‘ mysterious heavenly arc and Amelia’s presence weren’t enough, Dean and Sam will also deal with daddy complications when their paternal grandpa, Henry, time-travels to the present in a family mythology episode. “When you meet your father’s father, that brings up some of your father issues. In other words, what did your father’s father have to do with the way your father turned out?” previews executive producer Jeremy Carver. „A lot of that is explored head-on.” But it’s not all doom and gloom. Felicia Day’s Charlie Bradbury returns in what is sure to be a geektastic hour about live-action role playing.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

PREVIOUSLY ON… | After learning about Tyler’s rebellion, Klaus slaughtered all 12 hybrids and drowned Mrs. Lockwood in retaliation. Elsewhere, Damon set Elena free (kind of), April uncovered the staked Rebekah, and Bonnie, Damon and Professor Shane attempted to get Jeremy past his little “I want to kill my vampire sister” problem.

COMING UP NEXT | Tyler will be reeling from the loss of his last remaining family member by “keeping to himself, refusing to show his emotions and stewing in his own grief and anger, which is making it difficult to help him,” teases executive producer Julie Plec. Despite Klaus‘ terrible doings, the EP “wouldn’t say it’s the last we’ve seen of a connection between” the Original and Tyler’s girl Caroline. Though, “It’s the last that she’s going to want a connection between them.” On the Damon/Elena front, he picked his words carefully and told Elena to go home, not to never think of him again, so expect “lots of sad longing…between the two.” Meanwhile, neither April nor Rebekah will take lightly to being lied to or betrayed. (The latter, in particular, will seek revenge against Stefan.) And Jeremy gets an unexpected vampire hunter mentor in Damon!
